Paton yarn - ?is or was the best?

suebdooJanuary 25, 2008

Hello everyone:

I was always told that Paton yarn was one of the, if not the best yarn out there.

Now I've been told that Paton was sold to Spinrite and the quality has since gone down hill.

What do you think?

There was a yarn company called Emile Bernat & Sons and
went out of business but the name was sold to Spinrite.
Spinrite makes their yarn with Bernat's name on it and I
have read horror stories about that yarn like yarn was
thin at one end and very thick at other end. Another one
said her yarn was blue but was white on the other end.
Don't know what they will do with Paton's yarn!
I stay away from Spinrite yarn.

jj, thanks for your response.

I guess Spinrite is out to buy, however, if the quality is as poor as it has been people will wise up and steer clear.
I hope!!

I used to depend upon Paton wool yarn but no more. The last skein I used was a disaster. Every three to four feet the yarn had thinned out and pulled apart. I wrote to the email address that someone kindly provided me but no response.
