Builders Pride or Casa de Colour any good??
Hi, we recently had a bad experience with bamboo from Lumber Liquidators (looked great, but I was allergic to the chemicals used in processing/binding) and are now looking for a solid wood product (no more glues!) Unfortunately, we've lost considerable $ on the bamboo installation in one room and now have to rip it out. This means, of course, that we have even less $ than before to do this flooring project--we would love to purchase any of the lovely products we have seen for $4-5 per sf but we just can't go that high, $3/sf is about what we can manage. We are considering laminate, but for resale value we REALLY want to go with solid wood. LL does have two solid wood brands, Builder's Pride and Casa de Colour (Dura-Wood), that fall in our price range for maple or oak, and Home Depot is selling a Plano Marsh (Bruce) red oak plank that falls in this range. We are not looking for a bullet-proof floor, but do want something that is not trash and that looks decent. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with any of these brands--would especially like to hear from anyone who has installed these and would like to know how they've lasted and whether they look as good as the samples! We've tried the tactic of asking to see a box, but retailers have been loathe to open boxes for us...Also, anyone out there have solid birch or pine floors? I've been seeing some better prices on these woods.
