Hardwood floor polyurethane touch up

JohnSullivanNovember 26, 2012

I used a brush to apply a thin layer of polyurethane over the entire floor, and then I used Lambskin to apply a layer of polyurethane to some recently stained floors. 95% of the floor looks great, but there are a few places where the polyurethane soaked in more than others due to the cracks in the old wood and a spot that had some problems and required more sanding between coats.

I am hoping to simply apply polyurethane in a few spots rather than put another layer on the entire floor. Can I just spot touch up the polyurethane, or is doing that going to make it look abnormal or not blend correctly.

Any experience with doing this?

Thanks in advance.

You would be walking a fine line if you did just did a few spots. Typically a stained floor get a minimum of 2 coats of poly. Some opt for a third but two is usually enough.

I suggest you first try spot finish. And you might be ok. But leave yourself the option to coat the entire floor.
