what floor for basement home gym?

basil92008November 20, 2010

Our new house has an unfinished walk-out basement, and we'd like to turn part of it into a home gym to include a treadmill, elliptical, weight bench, etc. What would be the best surface?

Industrial-type carpet? Marmoleum? Laminate? I would want something easy to clean and durable.

That's an awesome idea! Could I put that right over the basement floor or would I have to put something under it?

rubber is a good idea, and yes it can go right over concrete. My suggestion is look into a product commonly used in gyms, and indoor sports centers called MONDO.
