I found a sample board of a hand scraped, brown hickory in 41/2, 6, & 7 1/2 widths. Anyone have any experience with something similar? It's engineered and longest lengths are 6 feet.
If the longest lengths are 6 feet, what is the average length? Wider flooring looks choppy if the boards are only 3-4 feet long, and if there is any sort of eased edge on the boards (common on pre-finished flooring) that choppiness will be exaggerated. Add in hickory's dramatic color variation and you could end up with a floor that resembles a checkerboard.
Do you have a photo of a sample installed?
Chalet, from Real Wood Floors has something similar, 1' to 7'. Variable widths. I think it's www.realwoodfloors.com or google it. Have sold a bunch...is the best I've seen out there.
