Hardwood flooring around brick hearth?

love2weedOctober 7, 2011

I know that undercutting is the way to go, but we are having a hard time finding a jamp saw to rent with a diamond blade and we are definitely not pros. If we can find a saw to rent--is this really a job for a pro or easy enough for someone with a some experience? Does quarter round look horrible? I've Googled and cannot seem to find a pic of a FP hearth with quarter round.

You can accurately fit the wood to the profile of the hearth and then caulk the small resulting gap with a color-matched flexible sealant.
