Can Anyone Give me the 101 Course on Wood Laminate Floors?
I'm usually over in kitchens...
It's time to select wood laminate (is that the right term?) for our main floor kitchen, main and half baths and entryway & hallway. Basically the entire main floor except the living room and bedrooms.
I have wood laminate currently. Previous owners installed it 10 or so years ago. It's in fine shape, but we're putting on an addition.
I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to start. I don't know what's important/what to look for. I'm sure it's not as simple as picking the color I like!
I like --
- wider planks
- mid to darker colors
Beveled edge -- I kind of like the look but will it be a pain to keep clean? The floor I have now has squared edges and is totally smooth (no texture).
Hand scraped -- is it too trendy? Will it really hide scratches?
I can spend $2.50/sq foot.
Can anyone be so kind as to offer pointers of what I should look for and where to start? Thank you!
