New Construction - Hardwood besides oak?

KCinSeptember 9, 2011

I am building and would like to put a wood floor in besides an oak for about 1200 sq ft.

I like a darker floor but also like a hand scraped or distressed look. My current wood floor is a medium oak color where dirt and scratches don't really show...

Is it possible to find a hand scraped wood that is only about $1 more per sq foot than your standard 2 1/4 inch oak?

You may be able to find a factory finished hand scraped at $1 per square foot more than select and better oak.
