severe wrist pain for hours -- then gone

lauriefreeSeptember 8, 2009

Weirdest thing. I have been gardening and digging and raking vigorously lately, then yesterday I woke up with a bit of an ache in my wrist. Several hours later, the pain was so bad I literally couldn't lift a fork. I really thought I had broken it. Then suddenly, the pain was gone, just like that. The pain was on the pinky finger side of the wrist and up my arm a bit too.

I have no idea, but it would be a good idea to take it easy on the wrist for a week or so. Also when you do gardening, digging, etc.

Sounds like a spasm of some sort.
I have fibromyalgia and have various things like that happen. But your's sounds like it might have been a spasm.
Next time try some heat on it.
If you're around perimenopause/menopause age, you might try taking calcium/magnesium. That helps with spasms.

I can't remember where, but I've seen ads for a support-type of glove. Maybe that would help when you're working?
