Rosacea

I have been getting a rash on my cheeks for the past few years and have found something that works wonders for me so I am just putting it out there for anyone who might be interested. I use Dr. Bronner's bar soap (my personal favourite scent is lavender), then I follow with a slather of coconut oil (this I use all over my face) and then I put Penaten cream (yes diaper cream) over my cheeks (or even acne breakouts or blackheads). Granted this works for me but I tried so many different creams so it's pretty frustrating. It's affordable too. Soap was $4.00 lasts for months if you use it just for your face, coconut oil $7.00 which also lasts for months and diaper cream $8.00 also lasts for months.

Rosacea can be a symptom of a gluten intolerance. You can try to fix the problem by going after the symptom but it will return or become another symptom

Yeah, I have been gluten free for the past two years but little things can make it flare - alcohol (one glass of wine), certain foods (still not sure of all my triggers) ,heat, stress. I find when I use my cleansing routine it will clear the redness over night otherwise I wake up with quite rosy cheeks.

Hi
My first time on a forum, but wanted to share my experience. I began to get acne again around 42 and thought what is going on. I went to the GP and they said (not just 1) that it is Rosacea. Ok I thought, what is the solution? Best they could do was get me to take Doxycyclin tablets, which I continued to take for 5-6 years. I went to a "specialist" who basically said that if the pills are working just keep taking them. I can be a cynical person at times but nothing prepared me for the lack of diagnosis from these professionals. Anyway I have overcome my acne issues with trial and error. I found that washing my face morning and night with Cetaphil helps and combined with using a different shampoo to the antidandruff shampoo I had been using in that period has helped my condition. Not saying this will work for everyone but it is a start. Pills are not the answer try different things. Maybe it is the shampoo??

There is a video on you tube which will tell you a lot about gluten and where it may be hiding it is called. Cerial Killers. It might help you find the hidden gluten.

My rosacea healed after using an oil cleansing method for my face (a combination of your favorite oil, like olive, and castor oil. You have to find your own ratio). I had developed acne rocacea. I used this method for about 6 months only. I have not had any problems since, and that was several years ago. You can read about the facial oil cleansing method on the net. That's how I found out about it. There are several sources.

Interesting. When I have a long bath I usually give my face a "good cleaning" with coconut oil. I will try this method out. I bet the coconut oil I use was a great antibacterial and possibly has a connection with rosacea? My rosacea is gone, if that is right word, for now but I like the idea of this type of cleansing. I hate the chemicals they put in so many cleansers. Dr. Bronners soap is also made with organic oils.
