Tile vs Hardwood

jpdowell_1106August 27, 2012

My husband & I are in the early, early stages of building a house. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with porcelain tile that looks like hand-scraped hardwood. Pro & cons? Does it really look like hardwood as the ads claim? I understand the upkeep to be way easier than hardwoodbut how does it look??? Thanks!

From what I understand, the Amtico brand is excellent. I know a high end designer who loves it, and her opinion carries a lot of weight with me.

I don't think the Amtico product carried at Lowes/HD is the same as you get through a distributor, though.

there are tile designs that looks like a hardwood and it's sturdy too. You could try to look for it.

I just installed some and I think it look pretty darn sharp. I'd suggest you visit a good tile store or two and pick something you like. There are a lot of variations on the theme and some look better than others.
