I hope this post finds you well. I have acquired a beautiful bonsai & Cotoneaster with its own pot and tools as a gift this past holiday.

I love gardening, I have my vegetable garden and lots of plants like devils ivy and janet craig. I reside in New York State. now my concern.

It seems that my cotoneaster, the surface around the edges of the pot has some kind of syrup residue all over like a mist. Further examination reveals that the front part of the trunk and some of its leaves have that same clear syrup residue. I have no idea what is that about???? I have follow the instructions, gave it some nutrition and water , plus it gets sun very often.

Please advise.
