is there a two speed duct fan for my workshop???

jaansuAugust 29, 2010

As part of our kitchen renov, I have a 6" duct running along my workshop ceiling that is no longer connected to the kitchen. I would like to cut into it and install a fan that would exhaust the air from my workshop if I'm running my saws and at a lower speed, pull air into the entire basement from an open window on nice days.

I think the booster fans I see for ducts don't move enough air for exhausting wood dust and the motors aren't built to withstand that much dust. Any ideas on how I can rig up an exhaust fan that can move some air and, if possible, also run at low speed to provide a means to pull air into the basement?

If you google 2 speed duct fan you will find plenty to choose from.
