Craftsman Garage Door - Wire Instructions?

pj94zAugust 12, 2006

I have a 10 yr old 1/2 hp sears craftsaman garage door opener. A few days ago, Lightning hit the house and the unit lost power.

So, I purchased a new unit today from Sears and I am in the process of installing the new one.

The new one I purchased seems to be a different model since it only comes with 2 remotes as my previous one had 4 (a wall mount switch and outside keypad, plus 2 remotes)

However, the manual I got with the new unit does not tell me where to hook up all the wires I have coming from the cieling.

I have 3 wires coming from cieling.. each of them splits off into several different colors:

one is white with blue marks

one is white with orange marks

one is blue solid

Something like that.. but the new unit I purchased only comes with 2 remotes and not the 4 remote system that came with my previous one... I'm assuming that's why there are no wiring instructions.

So, can anyone point to which wire goes where??

I suggest you follow the installation instructions that came with your new opener. The color code of the wires coming from your ceiling are not common to Craftsman openers.
