Craftsman garage door opener

Question about the logic board...if it is fried, would this explain why there is no power to the wired remote, the door sensors, the door light, and pushing the reset button has no effect. (model 139.18096 1/2 hp). Unit ran since 2001 without problems until now!

Appreciate any insight

Yes a fried logic board can cause all those problems. I would disconnect the unit from the power, pull the logic board and look for burned or missing traces on the pc board. This is a common problem.

Thanks Don.
No sign on circuit board of any damaged traces or burnt components, but this is just a visual once-over. With cct board disconnected, I checked the incoming power where incoming wires terminate.

I was suprised to get 118v between black wire and ground, 118v between white and ground, and no voltage between white & black. Is this normal (I had assumed capacitor across voltage was to dampen any transit voltages)?

I have never measured the voltage at the points you indicate so I have no idea if it is correct or not. One of the problems is we are working with voltage, r.f. and infrared signals. We need to be able to measure all of them and we can't because we don't have the equipment. The only thing we can do is substitute a known good part for the suspect one. That is easy for the technician but very expensive for the homeowner.
