Which manufacturers make quality bedroom furniture?

calliopitsaSeptember 16, 2007

I'm new to this board, and I've been searching the past posts for some information on quality furniture. My husband and I are purchasing bedroom furniture, but I'm overwhelmed with all the choices and styles. Problem is when we find a style that we agree on, the finish is not to my husbands taste (he hates the distressed look, and I prefer clean lines with out too much carving). Also the few bedrooms we do like style wise, seemed cheaply made.

I really want to invest in quality furniture, but I don't even know which manufactures to look at. We have a budget around $10,000- $12000 for a king bed, triple dresser, high dresser, and two night stands.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best manufacturer for our price range?

Craftique, Henredon, Harden.....

Henkel Harris is phenomenal, but the bed and dresser would devour your budget.

You should see if you can find a retailer who carries Maple Corners. Here's their website: www.maplecornerwoodworks.com/

They make gorgeous solid cherry furniture and the quality is top notch.

I'd do a search for Magnussen bedrooms. Solid wood in many different styles, and within your budget. You can find some on FurnitureFind.com.

At the very high end, Henkel Harris, Stickley and Hickory Chair are the very best.

At a somewhat lower price points, Cresent, Waterford and Durham.

From your description, it sounds like you and your hubby might like the Mission style of furniture. Stickley is the company to go to for Mission style. Very well made. (I have a Stickley dining room set.) It will probably fit right into your budget and it's the type of furniture that will still be in style 50 or 100 years from now.
