Industrial Cart Coffee Table

Missi SmithSeptember 7, 2011

I just purchased an antique industrial cart at a flea market for a coffee table. I love it but can't keep it from rolling on my hardwood floors. It is also not level - but I don't think any of them are. The front and back wheels go up and down - I have heard this was because it was easier to pull the carts originally.

Any ideas to make this coffee table stable would be so appreciated!!

I would use shims for the end casters (I've never seen one that was not made this way, so that you would essentially have a three-wheeled cart in one direction or the other). I'd probably just use shop-built chocks for the center wheels or caster cups. I'm sure there are other approaches but they might be non-reversible such as welding the wheels so they don't rotate.
