Hello....we are going to start building in a couple of weeks.....would our forum readers recommend AdvanTech or Plywood subfloor? Thanks in advance for your responses/opinions.
I am a kitchen/bath remodeler but have built several houses over the years. Being a bit of a traditionalist my first house was with 3/4 t&g plywood. It was under weather for a time and some areas delaminated. Not good. Since then I have used 3/4 t&g advantech and it has held up great. One winter with 3 months of snow and rain exposure and it held up fine. I do recommend rolling a sealer on.
AdvanTech is more stable when exposed to moisture and will not delaminate. We have never had a problem with it.
Advantech is better IMO
Thanks to all of you for your posts, rt
If you are planning to nail down wood floors many wood floor installers prefer plywood. You might review the form topics about OSB on the Hardwood Floors Magazine website. The issue is the limited resistance to nail withdrawal of OSB
