ladders in garage

redwindJune 22, 2010

I have two ladders that are stored in my garage. Both are stored verticaly propped against a wall. I do not have space to store them horizontaly. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can secure them so that they don't fall. They have been stored this way for over a year, and so far I have not had any problems. But, I would like to make sure they are secure.

Thanks

Screw eye bolts into the studs on either side of each ladder about about as high as you can reach, even stepping up on the ladder a bit if feasible. Run a loop of chain or line around the ladder from eye bolt to eye bolt.

For added security, do something similar at the bottom of the ladder.

"Run a loop of chain or line around the ladder from eye bolt to eye bolt."

Just use some bungee cords of an appropriate length.

You might have to replace the cords every few years.

Two U brackets and drop a piece of 2x4 in them, never rot or break and just lift to remove.
