Sears garage door opener

rafael21June 5, 2008

Hello to all, need your help and advice. I recently installed a sear garage door opener. When it opens, it does not retract past the garage door top opening. I made an adjustment and now it retracts past the door opening but when I close the door, there is a gap at the bottom. It seems that any adjustments that I make will either leave a gap at the bottom when it closes or does not fully retrack on the top when it is open.

What do I do to correct this problem? Thanks for any suggestions

What are you using to adjust the door?

Hello, thanks for responding to my question. The adjustment that I made was with the switch on top of the motor unit, and I also removed the drive chain to see if I could move it around to close the gaps, but it did not work. i welcome any other suggestions.
Thank you very much.

You should be using the up and down limit controls on the side of the motor unit. If you turn the control in the direction of the arrow the door will travel further.
