Sun and Garage Door Sensors

PeggyCApril 28, 2006

I have a 3 car garage. The afternoon sun seems to interfere with the remote closing of each door. Even using the wall mounted closer I have to hold it down until the door is closed. If I let up on the wall mount before the door shades the sensor the door will stop and reverse.

Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? In the morning, and once the afternoon sun goes down, the door closes fine.

You can try using the tube from a roll of toilet tissue to shade the lens on the sensors. That's easiest. Or you can try to move the sensors further away from the door opening. 2nd easiest. Next you can try reversing the positions of the sensors. Hardest. I have never heard of a real fix for this problem.
