Replace plastic gears in Craftsman opener

knoopApril 30, 2007

I have an issue with my opener where I can hear the motor but does not move the chain. I opened the cover and found plastic shavings. One of gears was completely gone. I tried to remove the gear, but I am having a hard time removing the roller pins above and below the gear. Is there a trick to removing these gears ow should they come out easily? Thanks in advance for your help

You only need to remove the roll pin from the bottom of the gear and it will slide off. If you buy the new gear it should come with instructions.
