yellowed/brown drywall in garage

where_am_iApril 11, 2006

I've heard two people mention the yellowed drywall in my garge. The previous owner didn't seal the drywall and now it's pretty dark in color. The two people (home inspector and electrician) mentioned it quickly and I didn't think to ask why at the time. Will paint not stick to it, or what's the deal?

Paint is pretty unlikely to stick.
At the very least a bonding type primer will be required, and depending on what the color actually is even bonding primer may have problems.
