Putting carpet over tile flooring

barbbApril 14, 2013

Hello Everyone,

I have an open bathroom/bedroom situation, and need to update the flooring. Part of the bathroom with only the sink is located in the bedroom (I know, I know---I didn't design it that way),with that flooring being the common small checked black and white tile. The bedroom has carpeting that backs up to the tile which I have to remove and replace, but for a number of reasons I really, really don't want to tear up the tile part.

I'm considering doing an indoor/outdoor carpet throughout the whole area and have heard that it would be possible to "glue" it to the existing tile. I'm wondering if anyone here has done something like this and if so what product and method you used and are you satisfied with the outcome?

I understand the best solution would be to tear out the whole bathroom area flooring, but that just isn't feasible now. Yes, I'm trying to do a temporary quick fix, but hopefully this would work for a reasonable amount of time.

Thank you so much for whatever help you can offer.

Of course you can glue to the tile. Re you gluing it all down or just that part with the tile?

Thank you glennsfc for your reply. Yes, just the tile part.
