Another Craftsman garage door problem - 1/2 HP

pnc1luv87February 26, 2007

Hi all, I've been trying to read the previous posts, but haven't come across one with the same exact problem I've had. I have a 1/2 hp craftsman garage door opener, which is approx. 5 yrs old. Everything was great until I accidentally bumped one of the sensors. One of the lights is solid green, the other solid orange, so they seem to be aligned. When I hit the wall button, or remote, the door will open all the way. When I try to close it, it will only go down a little way, then start to come back up, and the lights blink 10 times. It will only go down when I hold the wall button down. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Those sensors still are not lined up. Have someone hit the button while you get on your hands and knees and watch that green light, if it flickers the slightest bit it is going to reverse. Tweek those sensors a little more.

Yes the orange light is going to be on when the opener has power. The green light will glow solid as long as it is lined up right. Sometimes without the door in motion the light will be green but as soon as the door starts to move the slight track vibration can throw it out enought to trip the sensor, so watch the green light as the door is in motion.
