Help troubleshoot garage door opener

jagermeisterFebruary 24, 2007

Hi, my renter's dogs chewed the wire off of the receiving sensor for my garage door opener. Of course the garage door opener doesn't operate without the sensor.

I ordered new sensors. I unplugged the garage door opener to wire up the new receiving sensor. When I plugged the garage door opener back in, the light on the sending sensor didn't light up. It's as if the sensors aren't getting power anymore.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this? The sending sensor light was lit before I unplugged the garage door opener. Is there a bypass I can do so I don't have to use the sensors?

My only thought is that if the sending sensor was working before I unplugged the opener and then not after I plugged it back in, there may be a short within the opener itself?

Any thoughts?

Double check all the wiring. There is no bypass for the sensors. Make sure you did indeed put a recieving eye in and not a sending eye.
