Mixing finishes

salbwilJuly 24, 2014

Hi,
I have my Grandmother's ladder back chairs , quite pretty and obviously old, and want to have a table made for our dining room. How important is it to have the same wood for the table as the chairs or can I just pick a choice ? My dining room is one end of a combo living / dining room and our other furniture is a mixture of antiques and modern , different woods. We have mahogany, cherry, oak, etc.
Thanks,
Salbwil

I have various woods also, all medium to dark, nothing I would consider light. That's the key, either light or dark.

I think it looks good to mix woods. I have been in some high end houses in which each chair was different wood and color and they look good.
