Any fireplace insert can consume leaf?

gowithwind22December 12, 2010

plan to install a fireplace insert next year.

I have a large land with lots of trees. I have paid quite bit to haul away the leaves for this year. Wonder if there are any fireplace insert can consume tree leaf?

FYI, I have see a company sell mills which can produce pellets from leaf and grass. Although it costs $1800 + shipping and can only make 90lbs/hour at most.

It is HIGHLY inadvisable to try to burn leaves in your stove. Very little heat value, lots of ash, and the possibility that burning leaves could float up the chimney and start either a chimney fire or a fire outside the house.

Consider composting your leaves. Well reduced leaf compost is excellent stuff for your trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables.
