Fireback heat shield

jimbo22sDecember 21, 2007

I purchased an iron fireback heat shield to protect the back wall of my manufactured fireplace that has experienced some heat damage. My only installation option is to lean the heat shield against that back wall. Will the heat shield heat up and damage the wall in the area that it makes contact with the back wall? Do I need to figure a way to install the heat shield in a free standing manner that doesn't touch the back wall?

Thanks.

Many of the retailers of firebacks sell a small stand or foot for firebacks, possibly the place you purchased yours also sells the stands. If not google "fireback" and check them out . Here is a link to a page on the fireplace mall that carries them.

Good luck
