Flooring for old home - options?

dizbugMarch 18, 2012

Hi all,

So we just purchased a dutch colonial built in the late 1800s which has been renovated, but the renovations don't really match the age and character of the home. There is a great room addition that has large ceramic tile that we really don't care for.

We want to replace the flooring. It needs to be appropriate for the kitchen as well as the family room area since it is one continuous space. Do we have any other options besides wood floors? We want a style that looks old but updated. Thanks!

This is a great question for the folks over on the home decorating forum. If you post some pictures of your house and the rooms you'll get a great response over there.
