Harman Accentra Pellet insert vs wood stove insert

kdblove_99December 14, 2007

I have been going back and forth on which one to get a Harman pellet stove or wood burning stove insert. I have a zero clerance fireplace.

I have read Pellet stoves need maintnance pretty often and are also pretty loud? Ours would be close to the TV.

I really dont mind stacking./cutting hauling wood but kinda like the idea of how clean pellets are, no mud or bark, etc.

So which do you think? I know the Harman has a hefty price tag.

If you suggest a wood burning stove what is a good brand and that fits a zero clerance fireplace?

One thing about a pellet stove is (I've heard, unless things have changed) that they require electricity. So do you ever lose electricity? If you do, that's when you'll most need your fireplace. In that case I vote wood burning. But if you never lose electricity or have a generator, then I hope someone with a pellet stove will answer you.
