Repairing burnt spot on IKEA bed (pics)

ljbrandtMay 25, 2011

Several weeks ago, we had a halogen desk lamp accidentally lay on top of an IKEA bed (headboard) and burnt a spot about the size of two quarters. The bed is less than 2-years old and I was hoping for some suggestions to repair the spot. I thought about wood filler, but wanted to know if there were any better options before I gave it a go. Thanks!

two options fill with wood filler, and do some graining to make it match; or remove the veneer, and replace with a new piece.

thanks! I've also heard of some stuff called grain filler. Would the wood filler be better?

grain filler would be used to fill the pores in the wood (i,e. Mahogany), which would give you a smooth glass finish.
