outside air kit

hevboundNovember 4, 2007

I am in the process of purchasing a quadra fire pellet insert and was wanting to know the comments on whether or not I should install an outside air kit. My ash cleanout to my fireplace leads out into the garage and I don't think quadra fire suggest that you put one there. The only option that I have is to put up the chimney. I don't think that would be a good idea even though the paper work shows that as a option. I would think that you would suck in the ash and fumes back into the stove. Do I really need an outside air kit intalled. What does it really do for you. Does it make the furnace more efficient or is it more trouble than its worth. Thanks Brad
