What are the uses of Alcohol Lamp?

They provide a clean flame. Any use I've seen them for is for heating things in a lab (chemistry or biology), heating tools (burn in knives used in furniture repair), and cooking. The flame is blue and sootless. Not useful for illumination lighting.
