Simpson Dura-Vent or Amerivent Direct Vent System?

sequoia_2007October 15, 2009

We are trying to decide which venting products to use for our Mendota direct vent fireplace. We see that Mendota requires the use of high temperature sealant for the Simpson Dura-Vent components, but no sealant is required for the Amerivent components. Is the Amerivent direct vent system better fitting or of better construction than the Simpson Dura-Vent direct vent system?
