Flooring for stairway that runs into hard wood flooring

Lyns06February 12, 2012

Hey guys!

I have a question about what kind of flooring to have on the stairway of my new home.

The floor at the landing will be a hard wood and although I love how hard wood steps look, I am concerned about the added cost, difficulty level (we're doing the flooring ourselves), how kid-friendly it would be and the efficiency with cleaning.

However, I'm wondering how a carpeted floor will look running into the hard wood at the bottom?

I've seen some really nice looking runners for covering hard wood floors, but haven't seen carpet similar. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I would do hardwood treads with a 32" carpet runner. Of course the choice is yours to make..
