vermont tubbs quality might be diminished

smileMarch 2, 2009

We were looking at children's furniture at FurnitureLand South and we looked at the Vermont Tubbs line since it has been recommended on this board. However, we noticed the older lines (that had been in the store awhile based on the dates on the furniture) were much more durable than the newest pieces. We noticed the new pieces had quite a few dents and the paint was cracking due to the dent (whereas the old furniture's paint had more "flexibility"). We also noticed the dresser had a huge split in the drawer. I know I read here that Vermont Tubbs was aquired by another company, but I would be cautious about ordering from them now. We have decided against them for these reasons - if the showroom model doesn't look good, imagine what will happen after years of abuse by children!!! Anyways, I guess just because a piece is made in america doesn't mean its good quality (i.e. american cars!)
