Best Wide Planking NE area

wings13February 13, 2012

Looking for a reputable hardwood flooring company in the Boston area. I love Carlisle in NH but they are beyond my budget of $5-$10 sqft for wide plank random flooring. Also any advice re Red Birch vs Brown Maple vs Heart Pine. I don't like too may knots or variation in boards, I don't want to stain them either. I have looked at Carlisle, Vermont Wide Planking, Timberknee, and Stonewood on-line. TIA for any help.

There's Mountain Lumber. I know they have fantastic reclaimed heart pine.

Wide Plank, doesn't do very well in the NE region.

Big gaps between planks in the winter, if you install it so it doesn't cup & buckle during the summers.

Strip flooring performs better in the NE region.
