Ikea Trundle with regular mattress?

gfultMarch 3, 2012

Hello, my son's play room doubles as our guest room and my mother in law can no longer stand sleeping on the futon pull-out we previously used.

We are planning to get the Brimnes daybed but she is requesting that we buy a higher quality twin mattresses instead of the Ikea brand.

My question is will this really work or will it end up extremely tall and potentially dangerous? Will we still be able to slide the bottom bed in fairly easily?

If the Ikea mattress is required, how do they compare in quality to a decent standard mattress?

Here is a link that might be useful: Brimnes Daybed

So what did you decide to do--get the bed?
How is that working for you
We are looking for two daybeds to use in guest room of vacation home--want to put them under the windows to save space vs projecting into the room...
and they need to hold adults---maybe even heavy adults at times so want something that can hold weight...
but we don't want to spend a Pottery Barn ransom for them either...
feedback welcomed...
