Modern Design Wood Burning Inserts?
I have a very modern 1958 home (flat roof, exposed beams, large windows--think Eichler) with a large, wide (cinematic-like aspect ratio), brick fireplace. The existing fireplace has an older (1970's perhaps?) insert that puts out very little heat. I had considered installing a gas insert, but decided I would rather not run the gas line--because my house is built on slab and has no attic, I would have had to trench around the house (expensive) or go up an exterior wall and over the roof (ugly).
So, I am in the market for a clean, modern, efficient wood-burning insert. Unfortunately, most of the highly-rated inserts I have seen so far have an abundance of "gingerbread house" decoration that will absolutely not work in my modern home. I am looking for something rectangular (no arches), with as few decorative details as possible.
So far, I like the look of the Morsoe (to be released in September, apparently) and several of the Saey models, but would like to have more choices. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
