homemade table

lnielMarch 21, 2010

i have an oval shape dining room table(42"X61").I want to attach a 3/4" 4'x8' oak plywood on top of current table and then build down from there(new legs etc,).What is the best way to attach the 4x8 to the existing table top without drilling or nailing.my thought is to sand current table top and doll pin it on.any suggestions? thanks

Sorry, but I don't quite understand what you want to do.

If you are adding new legs, it is not the difficult to cut some aprons to length and secure the corners with hardware such as http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=782. Then all you have to do is attach the top with some table top fasteners or pocket screws. Plywood is not going to move much, so all you need to do is keep it flat and secure.

I also don't see how it's going to look anything other than a "sheet of plywood on a frame" unless you plan to do some trimming and edging of sheet.

And I have no idea what a "doll pin" is, and why you would need to sand an existing top?

about how "This axe has been in the family for 200 years and we've worked it hard." "We have had to replace the handle eight times and the head twice, though."
