I can always tell when the economy tanks.
Here in Vt I haven't seen so much firewood in yards in years. Everybody who has a fireplace or woodstove has at least two or three cords in the yard. They just don't have the money to fill the oil tank two or three times in the winter at $2.75 a gallon. You're talking over $2,000 in heating oil for one winter.
So the woodstoves are ready. An average stove might use 4 cords during the heating season. And at $175 a cord for seasoned wood, the math is simple.
I've got four cords ready to go. And since I hate hot weather, I'm kinda looking foward to autumn. Especially here in Vermont.
And let's face it. When the power goes out during a snowstorm, the fire is quite a comforting sight.
Anybody else ready with their wood?
