Ashwood Stoves in Farmingville, NY

contrasruleJuly 23, 2008

Hi,

Has anyone done business with Ashwood Stoves in Farmingville, NY, out here on Long Island?

We met with them, they told us they had no BBB complaints, we believed them, did some research, and then placed our wood stove order with them.

Then we wanted to confirm their BBB status, and now we see there have been 8 complaints against them in the last 36 months, of which one has not been addressed by them, at all. And that gives them an unsatisfactory rating by the BBB.

Not sure what to do. If anyone has had dealings with this company, either good or bad, please tell us.

THANKS.

Well, someone is sure mad at them:

It's awfully hard to tell what the circumstances are from this one report, though. Were you able to find out the nature of the other complaints from the BBB? If there are that many complaints, it does make you wonder how many people didn't bother to report problems. Most people don't.

In some states there is a consumer complaint division (in ours, part of our state attorney's office) that also takes consumer complaints-- does NY have something like that where you might be able to find more info?

At the very least, discuss your concerns with the store manager or owner. If you have doubts, you might be better going somewhere else just for peace of mind.
