Southern yellow pine floors- thoughts? finishes?

sweet_tea_January 10, 2014

I just posted on the building forum, but thought I'd X-post here as well.

We are planning on putting SYP wide plank floors through- out the entire house. I have researched GWF and the internet endlessly and still can not decide how to finish them. I don't want poly. I want something that I can touch up easily myself when needed. I'm thinking an oiled finished. I'm looking at Osmo, Woca, Monocoat, or pure tung oil. I really would like the floors to have some color, like a nice aged pine floor, honey color, the first three have tinted oil options , tung oil of course is just clear. Other than that, I'm stuck. Has anyone here had experience with either SYP floors, or those finishes that they could share with me? My time is running out to make up my mind! Thanks!!
