Store tile outside in winter?
We just bought about 250 sq.ft of tile from craigslist and need to store it for a couple months before installing it. We live in northern NH, and it's usually below freezing in winter, and often gets below zero at night. We'd like to store the tile outside on a pallet and under a tarp if that will be enough protection. That way it won't be in anyone's way, so less risk of people bumping it, dropping tools on it, etc. However, if the tile could be damaged from the cold or potential freezing/thawing from moisture (there will be moisture under the tarp) then we'll bring it inside. We're pretty sure this is ceramic tile but it could be porcelain, if that makes a difference. Does anyone have experience storing tile outside in really cold temps? Anybody seen tile damaged from freeze/thaw cycles?
