I have a spinning wheel and enjoy spinning in my spare time. Any other handspinners here?
I spin, but have been making quilts and knitting scarves for the last few months, and we are starting a kitchen remodel next week. I need to take a spinning refresher class. I'm excelling in over-twist. Hopefully, once we get done with the dust I'll be able to get back to my wheel.
Spinning is like riding a bike, you never forget how, LOL To correct your overtwist just spin a bit slower. Do you steam your skeens when they are finished? I leave mine on the kniddy knoddy for a long time and they are usually set when I take them off. I've read about setting the twist in the microwave, have you tried that?
I've never tried steaming my skeins. I used to get them wet and hang them to dry with shoes hanging from them to weight them down. It seemed to take care of the twist. Since I'm talking serious over twist, I don't think even my DH's shoes would help. As soon as I get my wheel back out of storage I'll try spinning slower. Maybe I just wanted my yarn done faster . . .
