Remote control problem

criticalmass048December 31, 2007

I don't think there's any easy solution to this problem, but I just thought I'd ask in case someone had this problem before.

I just bought a decent home theater system from my friend, with all the bells and whistles (RCA RT2600) and the problem is this...

When I turn my RCA television on, the stereo turns on... the volume is also controlled by the TV remote. However, I cannot get the amplifier to turn OFF. it will turn ON with the remote, but not OFF.

So essentially, I sit down, pop the TV on, hit POWER. The TV and the stereo go on. I have to get up to turn the amplifier off. This defeats the purpose of using remotes at all!

The way I see it, the only solutions are to get rid of the stereo, get a new TV, or cover up the remote sensor on the amplifier, and just control it manually. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Could you relocate the amplifier so that it won't be in the line of sight with the TV when using the remote? Just a thought from one that lives with remote horrors of his own...
