I would like to have a chandeliers in closet but my contractor said that would not meet building code? Is that true? I am located in N.CA.

Did you try the Building a Home forum? Very knowledgeable people there, since it's more a construction Q than an Electronics one.

You'd be better of asking in the Electric Wiring forum. There are very strict rules about the placement of lighting fixtures in a closet. Off hand, unless it's one heck of a big closet, a chandelier isn't going to work.

The first problem is the exposed bulbs.

They are not allowed in closets.
