How to keep battery bank charged?

mikeb4444November 29, 2012

Hi All,

I just acquired sixteen 12v deep cell batteries. They were from a computer center and designed for back-up power. They were wired to a Uninterrupted Power Supply(UPS).If commercial power was lost to the server, the UPS would automatically switch over to battery power. The batteries are about 2 years old and have had constant trickle charge on them. My question is how can I keep these charged for 4-5 months until I can build a solar panel system. I have a small car charger, will that work? I assume I don't want these to sit dormant for that long without having a constant trickle on them. BTW can anyone point me in the right direction for designing a solar/wind power setup? There is so much info out there I don't know where to begin. Thanks, Mike

Use your car charger to charge one battery at a time.
