Solar Panel Question.

kentuck_8bOctober 12, 2013

I have a 235 watt solar panel and want to use it to charge(using a charge controller) two 6 volt 220ah batteries connected in series, or 12 volt system.

I will be using no more than 60ah max daily but closer to 50ah or less. Is this alright using this solar panel, or is there something else I should be considering? Maybe a smaller wattage panel could be used also.

I have read that a good rule of thumb is to use a solar panel that has 1 watt of power for ever 2 amps of battery storage...does this sound right?

Maybe two 250 watt panels would be better since that would give ne 40amps.

Can someone also recommend an MPPT charge controller?
